Body Talk with Danica Holoviak

This is from a friend of mine named Danica Holoviak danica.holoviak@gmail.com. She is a dancer and movement specialist who practices and teaches Topf Technique and Dynamic Alignment, and has started exploring this new work that sounds quite interesting to me. It is called BodyTalk. I have worked with Danica before and without question I trust her with my body. I am looking forward to finding out more about this work. And since she is so enthusiastic about her journey into this field I wanted to pass this message on to you.

==================

Hello,

I'm writing to update you on my BodyTalk journey. After taking the
first course in BodyTalk, I've been eager to complete as many of the
advanced modules as soon as I can. This past April I completed Module
3, July 14-16 I took Module 6, and in October I'll be attending Module
9. I am very excited to share everything that I've learned. The more
I study this system of healing the more I understand just how complex
the relationships are within the BodyMindSpirit and how much more
there is to learn. One of the best aspects of BodyTalk is that it is
continually growing. John Veltheim, the founder of BT, is determined
to continue exploring energy medicine and bring it into common
awareness. Which is great for me because that means I will always
have something new to learn which I can then pass onto my clients for
their benefit.

Module 3 covered the foundation of philosophy behind the BodyTalk
System and how to apply it in a practical way. We discussed how
humans use the five senses to filter all environmental input to the
bodymind complex and the significance of this in holding onto patterns
of reacting, thinking, and attitudes that can profoundly affect health
at all levels. We discussed basic consciousness which enables us to
address, in a non-invasive way, the beliefs, attitudes, and states of
awareness you might have developed over your lifetime. This course
deepened my skills as a practitioner by giving me deeper insight into
the inner workings of the body and more efficient tools to guide my
clients toward greater balance and healing at all levels. The next
phase for many is to unfold their personal and spiritual growth to
discover the true nature of the Individual, their essential nature,
which will assist them towards recognition of their natural state of
inner peace and harmony.

Module 6 illustrated how each individual bodymind is an integral
player in the functioning of the entire group or groups in which the
individual belongs at every level—from family to society to the entire
globe. It follows that each bodymind complex must be in synchronicity
with all the many factors of these groups for harmony to occur. Some
of these factors include: ancestral, cultural, and hereditary
influences; planetary influences; and the Chinese clock of Chinese
medicine. It's already common knowledge that the moon influences
everything in nature from the tides, fishing, crops and the female
menstrual cycle. It stands to reason that the other planets can also
be affecting our bodyminds as well. Research has shown that the body
has a daily rhythm which strongly influences the meridian flow within
the body, which in turn influences the function of the bodymind
complex at all levels. If you understand your natural rhythm you can
better establish a more harmonious balance within the cycles of life.

I am continuing to offer sessions Tuesday afternoons and evenings.
Plus on the first Tuesday of each month the first three sessions of
the afternoon will be $20 sessions. These are designed for anyone who
is interested but not ready to commit to a full $80 session. Call to
schedule an appointment. I can be contacted at
danica.holoviak@gmail.com or 646-734-3289.

Thank you,

Danica Holoviak, CBP

From First There Is a Mountain

This is a paragraph from First There Is a Mountain by Elizabeth Kadetsky. It is a description of asana that I think is worth having a look at. The book itself as a whole is also worth reading. I think it is a great book for those interested in some insights concerning the history and “politics” that surround the teachings of Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, Desikachar and Krishnamacharya, some of India’s most influential yoga teachers of the 20th century.

I hope you enjoy this.

In his autobiography, Menuhin credited Iyengar with teaching him something mystical about the relationship of creativity to the body. “All influences pointed towards less tension, more effective application of energy, the breaking down of resistance in every joint, the coordination of all motions into one motion; and illustrated the profound truth that strength comes not from strength but from the subtle comprehension of process, proportion and balance.
