I am glad you guys like what I have to offer. Yoga is such a great thing for everyone that I am happy to be able to put information out there about the practice so that people have access to it.

Namaste, Carl:

Thanks for taking the time to create and post all of your great Yoga material. I really appreciate it! Noticed you are doing your asanas on a bare wood floor! Besides the fact that it looks better is there a reason for this?

I do like how it looks with just a wood floor for a camera or video but that is not really why I am doing it. I like the way it feels. I guess everyone is different. I usually do not feel that slipping is an issue unless I am using a sticky mat (funny) or am on certain kinds of carpet. The exception would be if I am really covered in sweat then most things slip. I usually just like the way a wood floor feels. There are two kinds of mats that I do like. I like those Yogi Toes towel mats that you put over a regular mat, if they have been dampened a little or if I am sweating. And I like those cotton mats that are basically a carpet. Both of those are designed to be put over the rubber sticky mat. And both of these get more grippy the more you sweat.

It is interesting, my understanding of the sticky mat is that the rubber stuff was originally intended to go under a carpet to keep it from slipping. There are a few foam rubber mats that I feel are okay, but I do like the feeling of something not made of rubber to practice on better. I even like grass better than a foam mat. But in the end, foam is not so bad. There are just other things I prefer.
